Rebel Thriver was started in the beginning of 2012 as a Blog by yours truly, Ella Hicks. The blog was a way for me to connect to others who had survived domestic violence and were feeling isolated. A Facebook page followed soon thereafter and the rest is history. The truth is that Rebel Thriver is for everyone. There isn’t anyone out there who hasn’t fallen down and been kicked in the gut by life. We are all survivors of something in this lifetime, aren’t we? I grew tired of referring to myself as a survivor though. I found the label of survivor so limiting, and so I decided to call myself a ‘Thriver’. Why did I choose the word ‘Rebel’ to place before it? I think that anyone who stands up against what is expected of them is considered a rebel of sorts. To choose to live your live in a positive way ever single day in the face of adversity is a pretty rebellious act to me.
“In a world where society that profits from your self-doubt, liking yourself is a rebellious act.”
Rebel Thriver has become so much more than what i intended. It has become a community of people who come together to respect and support each other; a ‘tribe’ if you will. What started out as an outlet for my inner most feelings has blossomed into so much more than I could ever imagine. We are growing everyday and with this grow comes some big decisions. We are planning to grow Rebel Thriver into a non-profit company that will be able to better serve the needs of its members. Of course this has financial demands and so we launched a merchandise line to help off set the costs. All of the proceeds from the merchandise will go right back into building Rebel Thriver. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Please feel free to share our site with anyone you think might benefit from a loving and supportive environment. We currently have a monthly newsletter that arrives right in your mailbox (if you sign up), a monthly healing circle, an awesome community on both Facebook & Instagram, and a lot of inspiration to go around. I am also blessed to have an amazing “staff” of volunteer administrators who help me run these online communities. This year I will be offering private coaching/mentoring sessions and workshops for the entire tribe to participate in. Stay with me for I promise there is so much more to come! xo Ella
